The Waterton Natural History Association was formed in 1983, becoming the first co-operating association in Western Canada.

We are a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to promote the preservation, understanding and appropriate use of Waterton Lakes National Park through education, publications, retail and museum services and volunteerism. While we work hard to raise funds for our association, we reinvest all of our earnings into additional educational products such as publications, displays, group natural history presentations and the like.

As an association, we serve to fulfill our mission independently of the Parks Canada mandate. At the same time, we do work closely with that federal agency to inform the public about the natural wonders of Waterton Lakes National Park.
We operate out of three facilities:
- our Heritage Centre, located at 117 Waterton Avenue in the park town site
- our business office at 306 Waterton Avenue
-
the Crooked Creek Campground, six kilometres outside the park
